Cameron Pass Ski Tour
Mod. III Ski Tour
We will choose one of several possible backcountry ski tours at Cameron Pass (Sawmill Ck, Montgomery Pass, N`Diamond'Pk, Nokhu Ridge, Agnes Bowl, 7 Utes), depending on weather and snowpack conditions. Participants should be able to ski Black runs at ski areas and make linked turns in untracked snow. Ski descents may involve both below and above treeline terrain and will be off trail. Bring AT, tele, or splitboard gear, full climbing skins, avalanche gear (beacon, shovel, probe). Cross-country skis and snowshoes are not suitable. E-mail inquiries and registration preferred.

Park at the winter Fern Lk TH and walk up the road to the trail. Snowshoe past the Pool and up Fern Creek to Fern Lk. Continue off trail to Odessa Gorge and the reward of spectacular backcountry winter solitude. Odessa Lk provides views of the Gable and Little Matterhorn.

Wheeler Peak, NM
Adv. II Ski Tour
A 5 day ski mountaineering trip: day 1, drive Ft Collins to Taos, NM; Day 2 ski to La Cal Basin via "Bull of the woods" trail and establish high camp at treeline (about 12,400'); Day 3 summit attempt-Wheeler peak (13,161')and ski out; Day 4 resort skiing at Taos; day 5 return drive to Fort Collins. Registration with leader mandatory. Avalanche training/equipment, snow camping, and previous backcountry ski experience required. trip limited to 8 or fewer.

Ski Tour - Rocky Mountain NP
Mod. II Ski Tour
This will be a moderate ski tour in RMNP with the exact route TBD based on snow and weather conditions. Possible routes include 1) Bierstadt Lake and Mill Creek Basin, 2) Storm Pass, or 2) or a tour in Wild Basin. Participants can expect total trip distance of 8-12 miles with 1000-1500 feet of elevation gain and ample opportunities for mild downhill runs. We will ski up and down on moderate-angle terrain (up to 20 degrees, depending on conditions), on and off-trail. Participants should be strong, intermediate skiers, comfortable skiing in variable snow. Distance: 10 miles. Elevation gain: 1000-1500 feet. Drive Distance: 110 miles. Steep and Emerald Mountains (RMNP)
Difficult B
Steep Mountain (9,538 feet). From Hallowell Park Trailhead, snowshoe off-trail to connection of South Lateral Moraine and Steep Mountain. Bushwhack up the eastern forested slope of Steep and scramble along rocky summit ridge to the actual summit (Grade I, Class 2). Enjoy the splendid views before descending by Steep's SE Ridge to Mill Creek Trail. 2.4 miles RT, 1,300 feet elevation gain.
Emerald Mountain (9,237 feet). Transfer by our vehicles to Bear Lake Shuttle Bus Lot and snowshoe east through Glacier Basin Campground and up the forested northwestern slopes of Emerald Peak, following moderately easy terrain to the summit (Grade I, Class 2). Views will be remarkable if weather is good! 1.6 miles RT, 700 feet elevation gain. Total stats for both peaks: 4 miles, 2300 feet.
